Village of St. Helena Town Board Meeting

January 16, 2014


The public hearing had to be rescheduled, because the McLean family did not receive notice.  The public hearing was scheduled for February 20, 2014.

 

Louis Hesse explained that the Planning Board had recommended leaving some of Charles White’s land industrial.  Charles White wanted to know why.  He feels that there would be no industry in his lifetime.  He wants all of his land to be zoned R-20.   Kathy Hone asked about the acres.  Louis said that Pender Progress was 11 acres, and Charles White had l6.3 acres.

 

On motion by William Hunter, and seconded by Judy Katalinic, it was unanimous that the public hearing be closed.

 

Present were Mayor Robert Barnhill, Judy Katalinic, Neil Benton, William Hunter, Nancy Jones, Ron Rampone, Louis Hesse, and Nathaniel Coleman.

 

Attending the meeting were Gina Rampone, Kathy Hone, Charles White, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Baker, and Don Hall.

 

Mayor Barnhill called the regular meeting to order and prayed.

 

On motion by William Hunter, and seconded by Judy Katalinic, minutes of December 19 and December 23, 2013 were approved unanimously.

 

On motion by William Hunter, and seconded by Judy Katalinic, the financial report was approved unanimously.

 

Louis commented on the contractor agreement for services of inspections for building, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing in levels certified for.  The purpose of the agreement is in case Louis Hesse is out of town.  Compensation would be deducted from Louis.

 

On motion by Nancy Jones, and seconded by Judy Katalinic, it was unanimous to accept agreements for building inspection services.

 

Don Hall with the Pender County ABC Board explained the formula for the distribution of monies from ABC.  He would like to visit the towns at least once a year.

 

Judy Katalinic asked about getting the flooring that Z. Koop has.  Mayor Barnhill said that she could put it in her shed.

 

On motion by William Hunter, and seconded by Nancy Jones, it was unanimous to adopt a resolution opposing the request made by the insurers of North Carolina for an increase in homeowner insurance.

 

After hearing comments from Charles White, it was suggested that the rezoning issue be sent back to the Planning Board to be reconsidered.  This motion died.

 

On motion by Nancy Jones, and seconded by Judy Katalinic, the meeting was adjourned unanimously.
