Village of St. Helena Town Board Meeting

July 21, 2016

Present were Mayor Robert Barnhill, Mayor Pro Tem Judy Katalinic, William Hunter, Nancy Jones, Kaye Knowles, Louis T. Hesse, and Nathaniel Coleman.  Absent was Neil Benton.

Invited to the meeting were Randell K. Woodruff, Pender County Manager, and Justian Pound, Pender County Tax Assessor.

Mayor Barnhill called the meeting to order and prayed.

Discussion with Randell Woodruff and Justian Pound was about collection of taxes for the Village of St. Helena.  Taxes on foreclosed properties were questioned.

On motion by Nancy Jones, and seconded by Judy Katalinic, minutes of June 16, 2016 were approved unanimously.

On motion by Nancy Jones, and seconded by William Hunter, the financial report was approved unanimously.

Louis Hesse will look into a contract with Tommy Garriss to substitute for Louis when necessary.

William Hunter said that the DOT would use rock on driveways to fill in the drop-off from the highway.

On motion by Nancy Jones, and seconded by Judy Katalinic, it was unanimous to adopt a resolution for the Southeastern NC Regional Hazard Mitigation Plan.

On motion by Nancy Jones, and seconded by Judy Katalinic, it was unanimous to approve a letter of credit from Time Warner.

An insurance refund was mentioned by Nancy Jones.

Judy brought up that DOT fixes new roads, not bad roads.  DOT does not take care of drainage.

On motion by Judy Katalinic, and seconded by Nancy Jones, the meeting was adjourned unanimously.
