Minutes Village of St. Helena Town Board Meeting November 21, 2019
Present were Mayor Robert Barnhill, Mayor Pro-Tem Judy Katalinic, Councilman William Hunter, Councilwoman Kaye Knowles, Councilwoman Nancy Jones, and Councilwoman Margaret Brinzey. Also attending were Building Inspector Louis Hesse and Attorney Nathaniel Coleman. Kim Rivenbark arrived after her meeting in Burgaw about solar farm connection.
In the audience were Carey Childress, Jon and Kathleen Stewart-Taylor.
Mayor Barnhill called the meeting to order and led the prayer.
On motion by Kaye Knowles, and seconded by Judy Katalinic, minutes of October 17, 2019 were approved unanimously.
On motion by Nancy Jones, and seconded by William Hunter, the October 2019 financial report was approved unanimously.
Louis Hesse gave an update on pending issues. He told of a double-wide trailer being installed on New Road which is zoned RA allowing trailers.
Louis mentioned a garage going in near Northwest Avenue.
The new house next to the cement plant is near completion.
The Burgaw Solar Farm fence was mentioned.
Louis said that Kim Rivenbark was at a meeting in Burgaw about using Burgaw’s side to put a driveway and underground lines for a possible solar farm.
Louis pointed out that Westgate Auto Mall has asked for a 90-day extension to use their sales trailer. December 1st would end the 120 days allowed.
Louis explained an issue with an accessary building to be located at 990 New Road. Kim Rivenbark was present to make a comment on this. She suggested combining the lots and seeking a variance.
On motion by William Hunter, and seconded by Judy Katalinic, it was unanimous to have the town hall building power washed by Alonzo West for $250.00.
Mayor Barnhill showed a sample of flooring for the new town hall. All agreed on this type of flooring.
Everyone agreed to proceed with getting bids for the new town hall.
Mayor Barnhill mentioned refreshments for the December meeting. Swearing-in will take place at the December meeting.
On motion by Nancy Jones, and seconded by William Hunter, the meeting was adjourned unanimously.
