Minutes Village of St. Helena Town Board Meeting February 20, 2020 Present were Mayor Robert Barnhill, Mayor Pro-Tem Judy Katalinic, William Hunter, Nancy Jones, Kaye Knowles, Margaret Brinzey, Louis Hesse, and Kim Rivenbark. Absent was Nathaniel Coleman. William Hunter left due to having to go back to work because of a pending winter storm. In the audience was Carey Childress. Mayor Barnhill called the meeting to order and led the prayer. Mayor Barnhill requested the Council to say the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag of the United State of America and also a salute to the flag of North Carolina. On motion by Judy Katalinic, and seconded by Kaye Knowles, minutes of January 16, 2020 were approved unanimously. On motion by Nancy Jones, and seconded by Margaret Brinzey, the financial report was approved unanimously. Judy Katalinic is to furnish email addresses to Kim Rivenbark of the Adjustment Board members. Louis Hesse stated that Board of Adjustment will be dealing with two items. A property owner wants to put a workshop next to his house instead of behind it. He has submitted an application for a variance. The Adjustment Board will also be dealing with an appeal from Westgate. Mayor Barnhill has received correspondence from Westgate about the hearing on February 13, 2020. Kim Rivenbark also received a letter from Westgate about the hearing. The letter mentioned comments about certain members and irregularities. The mayor will meet with Mike Frazier. Nancy Jones heard something about a junkyard down New Road past I-40. Louis said that it was not in St. Helena’s ETJ. Mayor Barnhill had attended a DOT meeting where they discussed ramps to I-40. Mayor Barnhill attended an ABC meeting about profits sent to municipalities. The ABC board will continue to distribute profits to municipalities through June 30, 2020. Mayor Barnhill brought up bids for the New Town Hall. He is extending time for bids to be received. Mayor Barnhill talked about a low interest loan for the New Town Hall. On motion by Nancy Jones, and seconded by Kaye Knowles, the meeting was adjourned unanimously. |
