Village of St. Helena Town Board Meeting

April 16, 2020

Present were Mayor Robert Barnhill, Mayor Pro-Tem Judy Katalinic, Councilman William Hunter, Councilwoman Kaye Knowles, Councilwoman Margaret Brinzey, and Councilwoman Nancy Jones. Absent were Louis Hesse, Nathaniel Coleman, and Kim Rivenbark.

Carey Childress was in the audience.

Mayor Barnhill called the meeting to order and led the prayer.

Pledge of Alliance to the U.S. Flag and the state flag was said by all present.

On motion by Kaye Knowles, and seconded by Judy Katalinic, the auditor’s contract for 2019-2020 was approved unanimously.

Mayor Barnhill passed out information on a metal building that could be used for the new town hall.

Judy Katalinic asked Mayor Barnhill about prospects for a loan or grant to help build the new town hall.

The present town hall was discussed. Judy Katalinic suggested that the Village of St. Helena should keep the hall. Nancy Jones felt that the old hall represents history. Margaret Brinzey felt the same way.

On motion by Kaye Knowles, and seconded by Nancy Jones, minutes of March 19, 2020 were approved unanimously.

On motion by Judy Katalinic, and seconded by Margaret Brinzey, the March 2020 financial report was approved unanimously.

Mayor Barnhill discussed the 2020-2021 proposed budget which is difficult to project.

On motion by William Hunter, and seconded by Nancy Jones, the Village of St. Helena Planning Board members will be paid only when meetings are attended was passed unanimously.

William Hunter told the council that Andrew Geppert would begin cutting the grass in the field Saturday, April 18, 2020 for $150 per cutting.

On motion by Kaye Knowles, and seconded by Margaret Brinzey, the meeting was adjourned unanimously.
