Minutes Village of St. Helena Town Board Meeting and Public Hearing June 18, 2020 Present were Mayor Robert Barnhill, Mayor Pro-Tem Judy Katalinic, Councilman William Hunter, Councilwoman Kaye Knowles, Councilwoman Nancy Jones, Building Inspector Louis T. Hesse, and Attorney Nathaniel Coleman. Absent were Margaret Brinzey and Planner Kimberly Rivenbark. Carey Childress was in the audience. Mayor Barnhill thanked Judy Katalinic for replacing the light bulbs. Judy Katalinic mentioned that Jimmy English also helped. Mayor Barnhill opened the public hearing on the 2020-2021 budget. No one in the audience had anything to say. On motion by Kaye Knowles, and seconded by William Hunter, the hearing was adjourned. Mayor Barnhill called the regular meeting to order and led the prayer. Pledge allegiance to the U.S. Flag and a salute to the N.C. Flag were said by all. On motion by William Hunter, and seconded by Judy Katalinic, minutes of May 21, 2020 were approved unanimously. On motion by Kaye Knowles, and seconded by William Hunter, the May 2020 financial report was approved unanimously. On motion by William Hunter, and seconded by Nancy Jones, the 2020-2021 was approved unanimously. Mayor Barnhill made some comments on the budget. He said that the loss of income because of Covid-19 may require a tax increase next year. ABC monies are also being cut. William Hunter discussed repairs to Fairfield Drive. Louis Hesse mentioned two houses going up on Jordan Road and two garages being built. Louis brought up the final inspection of the solar farm. Tall grass needs to be mowed in front of the solar farm.
On motion by Kaye Knowles, and seconded by William Hunter, the meeting was adjourned unanimously.
