Minutes Village of St. Helena Town Hall Meeting September 17, 2020
Present were Mayor Robert Barnhill, Mayor Pro-Tem Judy Katalinic, Councilman William Hunter, Councilwoman Kaye Knowles, Councilwoman Margaret Brinzey, Planner Kim Rivenbark, and Building Inspector Louis Hesse. Absent were Nancy Jones and Nathaniel Coleman.
Carey Childress was in the audience.
Mayor Barnhill called the meeting to order and led the prayer.
Pledge of allegiance to the U.S. Flag and a salute to the N.C. Flag were said by the group.
On motion by Kaye Knowles, and seconded by Margaret Brinzey, minutes of August 20, 2020 were approved unanimously.
On motion by Judy Katalinic, and seconded by Kaye Knowles, the August 2020 financial report was approved unanimously.
Louis Hesse said that Scotch Bonnet solar farms did get permits.
Louis Hesse advised that two new residences were going up on Jordan Road. One is a double-wide and the other is a stick-built house.
Kim Rivenbark remarked that she had given the planning board members at their September meeting five chapters of the U.D.O. to review.
William Hunter discussed the mowing of the field east of the present town hall. He is trying to work out something.
William has been asked about a dead tree in the cemetery. More money is needed for the upkeep. The Council is not responsible for the upkeep.
Carey Childress talked about ditching along Fairfield Drive. After discussion about ditching, William is to contact someone about this. Other ditching needs were brought up by Kaye Knowles and Judy Katalinic.
Mayor Barnhill commented that he had expected Woody Sullivan of Pender County EMS to come and talk about improving responses to St. Helena.
On motion by Kaye Knowles, and seconded by William Hunter, the meeting was adjourned unanimously.
