Minutes Village of St. Helena Town Board Meeting July 15, 2021
Present were Mayor Robert Barnhill, Mayor Pro Tem Judy Katalinic, Councilwoman Kaye Knowles, Councilman William Hunter, Councilwoman Nancy Jones, Planner Kim Rivenbark, Village Attorney Nathaniel Coleman, Village Clerk Mary D. Bakan, and Building Inspector Louis T. Hesse. Absent was Councilwoman Margaret Brinzey.
Mayor Barnhill called the meeting to order and Kaye Knowles led the prayer.
Pledge of Allegiance was said to the U. S. Flag and a salute to the N.C. Flag.
On motion by Nancy Jones, and seconded by William Hunter, minutes of June 17, 2021, were approved unanimously.
On motion by Nancy Jones, and seconded by Judy Katalinic, the June 2021 financial report was approved unanimously.
On motion by William Hunter, and seconded by Nancy Jones, it was unanimous to disapprove early voting and absentee voting for the Village of St. Helena’s November municipal elections.
Louis Hesse stated that Nash has purchased the Baker property.
Louis said that he has received a building permit for S3,019.22 for Sanchez.
Nathaniel Coleman has a subdivision to be discussed at the August meeting of the Planning Board.
Mayor Barnhill brought up the land use plan and a possible need to update it.
Mayor Barnhill suggested starting on the new town hall by building a slab foundation. Louis mentioned soil studies.
Spending the American Relief Plan (ARP) money was discussed. Judy suggested using it for ditching starting with Fairfield Drive.
William Hunter complained that Greengo has allowed dog fennel to grow up on their solar farm property. Louis will check on this.
On motion by Nancy Jones, and seconded by William Hunter, the meeting was adjourned unanimously.
