Village of St. Helena Council Meeting

April 21, 2011

Present were Mayor Robert Barnhill, Ron Rampone, Neil Benton, Jim Davis, Nancy Jones, Willie Knowles, R. H. Corbett, Louis T. Hesse and Chad McEwen.

Attending the meeting were Judy Katalinic, Gerald Velie and Robin Hesse. 

Mayor Barnhill called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.  Prayer was by Willie Knowles.

On motion by Willie Knowles and seconded by Ron Rampone, minutes of 3-17-2011 were approved unanimously.

On motion by Nancy Jones and seconded by Ron Rampone, the financial report was approved unanimously. 

Nancy Jones asked if termites were found active during inspection.  The inspection report showed no termite activity. 

Louis Hesse reported that he had the sign moved that was too close to US 117 advertising land for sale. 

Chad McEwen explained proposed changes to the zoning map that would require a public hearing and letters to be sent to landowners.

On motion by Ron Rampone and seconded by Nancy Jones, it was unanimous to hold a public hearing in June.  Louis Hesse estimated the cost of rezoning signs would be $200.00.

Chad McEwen advised the council that Burgaw wanted to sell the truck with chipper.

On motion by Nancy Jones and seconded by Ron Rampone, it was unanimous to join with Burgaw to sell the truck with chipper. 

Neil Benton mentioned that he had traded some trash cans. 

Louis Hesse asked about printing new UDO books.  Chad suggested using 3-ring binders.  Mayor Barnhill asked Louis to get a price from Bee Line.  

Willie Knowles mentioned trees were removed from Memory Lane at a cost of $125.00. 

Mayor Barnhill requested a proposed budget from Nancy Jones for the May meeting.  A budget public hearing needs scheduling in June.

Ron Rampone mentioned a surplus property auction for Saturday, June 4 at 10:00 a.m.  Mayor Barnhill advised advertising for sealed bids for the surplus property. 

On motion by Willie Knowles and seconded by Ron Rampone, the meeting was adjourned unanimously.
